Family X - 2 parents out with their 2 girls. The older one on a mission and flying along on her own, the other on training wheels discovering the love of wheel freedom. On the walk back from Bitton bridge to home Dad is giving her a helping hand with a long push stick on the back of the bike whilst Mum runs to keep up with the older girl, off in her own adventure!

Andy - In training on the path after 2 new knees and a new hip. Being hit twice by speed cyclists and grazed several times more, his time here on the path is more than testament to his focus on wellness, love of the walk, and getting out in the sunshine.

Abi - We have passed each other regularly and smiled and waved. When I stop her she reminds me that we had met weeks ago outside a supermarket and I had redirected her onto the path. Lives connecting randomly on and off the path. I love it!

Louis - Loving the English countryside and getting out of the city for a few moments. A slow ride made slower by squashy tyres, which suddenly seem more spritely after I pump them up, as we talk about the best way to get up onto Kelston Roundhill on his next trip out.

Lucy and Liz - still smiling in spite of having just been yelled at by a cyclist. We talk about the need for people travelling at speed and people in packs, on foot and on wheels, taking the needs of the other shared path users into account. Being yelled at is hideous and unnecessary. They are thankfully undeterred.

David - 82. He tells me about his cycling exploits over the years, about his family, his wife, his singing, and we both reminisce about bikes we have owned. I don't think I will ever be able to match his current n+1 of 18. True to form, he takes a call as we sit and chat, and arranges to pick up another bike that afternoon. A total legend.

Latch - I've looked at his e-bike with a mixture of awe and envy since I first saw it. He was regularly commuting to his recording studio job until Covid destroyed The Arts in the UK. He was heading there this evening when I stopped him and aside from the shared path route he has spent his time exploring Bristol's green spaces, safe in the knowledge that distance and terrain are no match for his fat tyres.
